It pursues the idea of emphasizing the remaining structures of the sites by making them perceptible in a different way. Based on the narrative energy emanating from these relicts, a new reality is to emerge through the use of volume models. The spatial cubatures of the various areas of the Groß-Rosen concentration camp will be reconstructed in a smaller scale and placed in perspective on a photograph of the foundation walls of the camp, so that the viewer is able to re-establish the connection between inside, outside – and what used to be there. The so created spaces fulfill the classical concept of a place of preservation and memory, while at the same time reconstructing the social space.

Portfolio: link.

#digitalresidency Oscar Lebeck (b.1993, Hamburg, Germany) – studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig and the Glasgow School of Art.
